Lee Harvey Oswald This is an FBI photo that was found in Oswald's wallet.
It may have been taken before or after his trip to Japan in 1957. Notice the
Marine Corps Sharpshooter Badge in the lower right hand corner of the photo.
Oswald was a qualified Sharpshooter with an M-1 military rifle.
PFC Martin Schrand PFC Martin Schrand was attached to the MACS-1 (Oswald's Unit) and was
accidentally killed in the Philipines in January 1958. It is important to
note that Oswald was not in the area at the time of the shooting. It was
originally thought that Schrand was shot to death by HUK guerillas, however,
this proved to be incorrect. This photo was furnished by Schrand's father,
who is now deceased.
Marine Air Group 11 Headquarters (A Unit of the 1st Marine Air Wing) This picture was
taken in Atsugi, NAS, Japan in 1957. Marine Air
Group 11 Headquarters was located at the east
entrance to the Air Base and was used almost exclusively by Marines. The
west side of the base housed the Navy, CIA, Marine Air Control Unit One, and
all officers.
Atsugi NAS cave This photo from the 1950's shows the side view of a cave
found under the Marine Corps area of the base. These caves were known to be
inhabited by poisenous vipers.
Atsugi Air Field This photo shows two men fleeing the northern tip of the
air field. These men were caught photographing aircraft taking off and
landing. Military Intelligence could not identify these men. While this
photo was being taken, the author was covered by armed Marines.
U-2 Spy Plane This photo, taken by Toda Yasunori of Japan, shows a U-2 Spy
Plane coming into the Atsugi Naval Air Station in 1959. Yasunori took this
photo when he was a young boy.
Mag-11 Flight LineThis is the Flight Line at the Atsugi NAS taken in March
1957. This field was located on the east side of the Air Station. Note that
there are no hills as described by some researchers.
Korean Village near MAG-11 This photo shows a Korean Village, which existed
along the northern boundary of the Mag-11 area in the Atsugi NAS in
Novembver 1956. This area was "off limits" to all military personnel due to
the Communist and "black market" activity which took place in this village.
The CIA stated that Oswald had no access to Communists while in Japan, yet
all he had to do was walk up to the fence and talk to a few.
MAG-11 Flight Line Map This map was made by the author in 1957 as part of a
Security Order. It shows the Mag-11 Flight Line in Atsugi NAS during 1957.
Note that Building #2 was the CIA U-2 Spy Plane Hangar, Area #7 was Oswald's
Unit (Marine Air Control Squadron 1), and Area #5, named METO, was a TOP
SECRET INSTALLATION. Three fighter squadrons and an Attack Aircraft
Detachment were stationed on the Flight Line. These fighter squadrons shared
a maintenance area. Civilian Air Transport (CAT) and CIA aircraft were also
parked on the runway apron.
